Sometimes it is the simple things....
When we were on vacation my brother dug a huge hole on the beach for Will and my nephew and they literally played in that hole for hours. They said it was their castle fully equipped with a kitchen, bathroom and many bedrooms. It is a good reminder that sometimes we can find great joy in the simple, little things well actually it was a pretty big hole.

His new ride...
Will is over the moon about his new bike. This cool bike is a hand me down from some very kind friends, it is a Harley Davidson Chopper bike. When Will saw it he said, "Wow that is the coolest bike in the city, I thought I was going to get stuck with a baby bike!"
Seeing his face light up reminded me of my yellow banana seat bike. I remember thinking I had the coolest bike in town, it had cool designs on the seat and streamers on the handle bars.

The first piece below is a stamped free form design with black onyx, pearl, and smokey grey mother of pearl. The one in the middle has a gorgeous ryolite (not available anymore) and jade. The piece on the right called "Tree" is another free form design that combines both texture, shape, and wire wrapping. Notice how the intense colors in the art glass really make this piece stand out. My latest creative outlet has been creating marbelized ceramic mosaics. There will be a new page with photos.
I began metalsmithing over 20 years ago and am mostly self-taught. This came about after years of working with clay. There has always been a fascination with textures and shapes, which I now incorporate into my jewelry designs as I did with my clay art. When people see me at shows, I have no doubt they aren`t aware of the many steps that are taken to create a piece from raw materials and work with it until it is just beautiful, ready to be an adornment. Some of those metalsmithing techniques involve soldering (a whole lot of that), filing, using stamping tools for texture, use of a rolling mill - also for texture, cutting, bending, and polishing to a high sheen finish. The crowning touch at the end of all this is the stone setting. Sometimes the stones are so lovely, I can`t stop starring at them. Then I know my work is complete and ready to present to the people that attend the shows.
Over the years, many people have asked me if I had a website. I don`t have an official fancy one because my work changes often, and I don`t want to spend time editing and updating a site instead of spending time in my workshop. So this little blog came about to let everyone know what shows I`ll be doing and occasionally I will upload a photo or 2 to give people an idea of the style of my work.

Got these chains...
We are now the proud owners of the Phineas and Ferb soundtrack and we listened to it all weekend, and I mean all weekend. I have to say it is pretty good and Got These Chains is one of our favorites. I hope you enjoy it and if it gets stuck in your head I am sorry!
I suppose it is pay back since my Dad said on a road trip I made them listen to Strawberry Shortcake the entire time.
Say it isn't so...
Will tells me that he is too old to hold hands in public and to receive hugs and kisses. Just today I gave him a kiss on the cheek and he wiped it off. Isn't 4 a little young? sniff. sniff
At what age did you kiddo(s) decide that public affection was no longer acceptable?
Persistence....
While on vacation we took Will putt putt golfing for the first time and I have to say the kid has persistence. He didn't care how many putts it took to get the ball in the hole and would hit it until he got it in, and then once he did get it in he would say, "Look Mom I got it in the hole" and this lasted for the entire 18 holes.
Will reminded me that some times you just have to have some persistence and not give up even if it takes 25 putts or even if something is new or hard.

Just me and my boys, and both of them never want their picture taken so I will take what I can get.
Happy Wednesday please think of us today Will is getting some major dental work done and we are hoping it goes smoothly, we have had to reschedule numerous times and this is just one of many appointments to come.

His first time at the beach....
Do you remember the first time you went to the beach? This was Will's first time to the beach and as you can tell he loved it. I love the beach too and when watching the waves roll in and out I fantasize about what it would be like to live right at the beach. A girl can dream right? But now we are back in cold Michigan!

unplugged...
How long could you go unplugged?
This is a hard question for me since I run a online business so I always have to be connected and with having email on my phone it is even harder to go unplugged. If I didn't have my business I think I could last a few days. I will say though when we were on vacation last week we did have wireless in our condo and I was really good and was online only for necessary updates for my shop.

Jetsetting...
We spent last week in Myrtle Beach and this was Will's first time on an airplane and truly first beach vacation. He had his rolling backpack all loaded with toys and talked the entire time and was especially interested in the airplane emergency instructions, which I told him I hoped we wouldn't need.
Flying always makes me nervous, does it make you nervous?
